The photographs in After You Left are love letters addressed to the former lover, capturing self-blame for the failure, feelings of shame and loss. Simultaneously, there are motifs of rediscovering self-love. In contrast, self-destructive tendencies, submission, and the desire to find one’s own value and regain control are present. In expressive gestures, captured sexual tension, and intimacy, there is a reference to the drawings of Egon Schiele or the photographs of Claude Cahun.
